Outline of DofE

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award aims to inspire, guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their achievements.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of activities for anyone aged 14-24.  Doing their D of E gives young people the opportunity to experience new activities or develop existing skills.  There are three progressive levels of programmes which when successfully completed lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award.  Young people create their own D of E programme by choosing a volunteering, physical and skills activity, going on an expedition and, for their Gold only, taking part in a residential project.

Further details can be found on the DofE website www.dofe.org

D of E groups operate across Shropshire in various settings including schools, voluntary youth organisations, youth clubs and uniformed groups.  For further information please contact Dave Thorley, D of E Award Officer on 01743 254485 or email dave.thorley@shropshire.gov.uk
